Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kogi Command, on Thursday, disclosed that they have released the charred remains of the 13 victims of the Obajana Easter Sunday auto-crash to their families for burial in Plateau.

Recalls that the 13 victims died in a Sharon vehicle that was engulfed by fire at Obajana Market on Easter Sunday when a truck hit their bus from behind.

Two people who were injured in the auto crash are receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in the state.

The Kogi State Sector Commander, Mr. Samuel Oyedeji, who disclosed this said that the corpses were handed over to the families on Wednesday.

”We were contemplating giving the victims a mass burial here in Lokoja if their relatives don’t come forward to claim the charred bodies.

“As we were discussing with the police and the authorities of Lokoja Local Government, we received a call from the owner of the affected Sharon bus, and shortly after that, we got to know that the victims were all from Plateau.

”The families demanded that the bodies be released to them for burial; consequently, the bodies were released to them on Wednesday, and they got a bus, which helped to move them to Jos.”

He sympathised with the victims’ families and prayed to God to give them the comfort and strength they needed to bear the loss.
