2023; Full elections results declared by INEC in Kwara State

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced Senator Oyelola Ashiru of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winner for Kwara South.

Ashiru is returning to the Red Chambers for a second term.

INEC Returning Officer Prof Ajibola Akanbi made the anouncement at the collation centre in Omu Aran.

Declaring the official result, Akanbi said Ashiru polled 55,966 while Senator Rafiu Ibrahim of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scored 34,950.

Prof Wale Suleiman of Social Democratic Party (SDP) polled a total 2,4215 to come third in the keenly contested election.

Alhaji Umar Sadiq was declared winner for Kwara North.

Sadiq polled 78,015 votes to beat his closest rival, Issa Bawa Adamu of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP who got 41,443 votes while Labour Party, LP candidate, Moses Rebecca polled 1,947 votes.

Returning Officer for Kwara North, Prof Oluwole Akinola declared Sadiq as the winner after scoring the highest number of votes in the elections.

APC Kwara central senatorial candidate Mallam Saliu Mustapha also won his seat.

INEC Returning officer Prof Abdullahi Saliu Abubakar, announced the results.

Saliu Mustapha polled 109,823 votes to defeat his main opponent, Bolaji Abdullahi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 69,202.

While Ridwan Apaokagi of Social Democratic Party (SDP) scores 13,193, Akanbi Farook of Labour Party (LP) secured 9,280 votes.

Mallam Mustapha is the Turaki of Ilorin.
