553 cases in 24hrs: Analysis of 9, 855 infections of COVID-19 in Nigeria

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Saturday, May 30 2020, announced that the country recorded a whopping 553 new cases of the ravaging COVID-19, raising the total figure of confirmed cases in the country to 9,855.

Lagos state alone accounted for an alarming 378 cases of the new confirmed cases nationwide. Following suit on the table of confirmed cases is the FCT, Delta and Edo, that recorded 52, 23 and 22 of the new confirmed cases respectively.

As it stands, 2,856 patients of the confirmed cases have been successfully managed and discharged, while the number of deaths of the virus moved to 273 with 6,726 active cases.

Lagos remains the epicentre of COVID-19 in Nigeria with 4,755 cases, followed by Kano with 951 cases. FCT remains third with 616 confirmed cases while Abia, Benue and Kogi with 10, 7 and 2 confirmed cases respectively have the least confirmed cases.

Also, 35 states plus the FCT have recorded cases of COVID- 19, with Cross River being the only state that has not reported any case in the country.
