After UK meeting, Atiku flies back to Nigeria, set to receive Shekarau into PDP
The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, is planning to return home to officially welcome Ibrahim Shekarau to the PDP.
The former governor of Kano state, Shekarau, is uneasy with the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and is rumored to be leaving.
On Sunday, Atiku is anticipated to arrive back from a meeting with Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike in Europe.
In May 2022, Shekerau defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the NNPP following a protacted leadership dispute with Kano governor Abdullahi Ganduje.
The senator for Kano central claimed that he left the APC because it was unable to resolve the conflict between his camp and Ganduje’s.
However, his new partnership with the NNPP would prove to be short-lived. A few days ago, Shekarau opened up on his disgruntlement with the party.
