Angry protesters storm Monarch’s Palace as unknown gunmen murder pregnant woman, kidnap husband

Residents of Offa, in Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State, have stormed the Palace of the Olofa of Offa following the killing and kidnap of a couple.

It was gathered that a pregnant woman, whose identity was given as Hawuwa and her husband, Mr. Lukman were attacked on Saturday by unknown gunmen. In the course of the attack, the gunmen killed the woman and abducted her husband, a phone technician.

According to reports, the couple were attacked at about 10pm on Ojoku Road, Offa, it was learnt that they were on their way home before the incident occurred.

Residents of Offa on hearing the tragic news, took to the street, and protested after which they mobilized themselves and stormed the Palace of the Olofa of Offa, Oba Muftau Gbadamosi (Esuwoye11), demanding for the release of Mr. Lukman, the husband of the deceased woman.

Speaking with newsmen, a witness, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said, “around 10pm yesterday (Saturday), Lukman, a middle-aged phone dealer selling London-used phones at the Owode Market area, opposite Owode Police Station, Offa, was abducted by unknown gunmen along Ojoku Road, Offa, where he resided; he was on his way to his residence when he and his wife were accosted in their car by unknown gunmen.”

“As Lukman was being dragged by the assailants, the wife was shouting for help. This prompted the assailants to shoot her dead. Her body was left at the spot, while Lukman was taken away and till now, his whereabouts remains unknown.”

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer in Kwara State, SP Ajayi Okasanmi confirmed the tragic incident to Journalists.

He however, didn’t divulge more information, as he added that the Police were working tirelessly to apprehend the assailants.
