Angry youths burn Commissioner’s house, chase husband out of community

For allegedly committing crimes in the area, angry youths of Elugwu Ettam Community in Okpuitumo Ikwo Local government area of Ebonyi State have set ablaze the country home of Celestine Okah, husband of Ebonyi Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Wendy Uchechi Okah.

According to a source Okah was accused of involvement in some crimes in the community, buy he vehemently denied the allegations.

He also denied to swear an oath to prove his innocence before the gods of the land as stipulated by their traditions

However, Okah, did not only refuse to swear to the oath he instead resorted to calling the attention of the Police.


This development angered the youths who descended on him and beat him mercylessly before moving to his residence and set it on fire

The arrival of the Police could only rescue Okah as his property have been destroyed by the inferno.

The community, it was learnt, warned the Police to take Okah out of the community, warning him not to enter the community again.

Police Spokesman in Ebonyi State, Loveth Odah confirmed the incident, saying that the victim was rescued.

She noted that the Police was able to restore order in the area and have warned the community to toe the line of peace to settle whatever dispute they may have with the victim.
