Angry youths set truck on fire after accident allegedly claimed two lives

Two persons have been confirmed dead in an accident that happened on Saturday at PZ junction, Benin-Sapele Road, involving a Toyota Bus and a stationary Ford Truck.

An eyewitnes report says the accident was caused by overspeeding which made the driver of a Toyota bus loose control thereby crashing on a stationary Ford Truck.

Passersby and youth who saw what happened took laws into thier hands and in a twinkle of an eye an angry mob immediately set the truck loaded with drinks ablaze.

Mr Henry Benamaisia who is Edo State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), while reacting to the incident cautioned motorists against excessive speed, dangerous driving, indiscriminate parking and other forms of traffic violations.

He advised the youths and general public not to take laws into their hands, while also emphasizing that the corps are committed in ensuring that violators of road traffic regulations were made to face the wrath of the law.


As at the time of filing this report, remains of the accident victims had been deposited at undisclosed hospital by combined team of FRSC, police and personnel of the Edo State Trafficking Management Agency (EDSMA).
