APC Chieftain reportedly hacked to death by assailants
Gunmen suspected to be political thugs have reportedly murdered an All Progressives Congress (APC) leader in Ijesa, Osun State, Tunde Ejoka.
The APC leader was slaughtered in the early hours of Wednesday at his residence in Ijebu-Jesa, headquarters of Ori-Ade Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement issued yesterday, the acting chairman of the party in the state, Tajudeen Lawal, condemned Ejoka’s murder, describing it as unfortunate and callous.
He said the political thugs behind the killing are those loyal to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
While stating that the PDP thugs had threatened Ejoka on the eve of the presidential and National Assembly elections, the APC chairman said: “Ejoka was slaughtered…simply because he canvassed a lot of votes for the party over the weekend.”
When contacted, spokesperson of the state police command, Yemisi Opalola, said “investigation is ongoing to unravel the circumstance that led to his killing.”
