APC secures ticket discounts with 2 International airlines for Nigerians coming home to vote
There will likely be more participation of Nigerians in Diaspora in the upcoming election as the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC PCC) says it has reached an agreement with British Airways and Lufthansa to offer special discounts to the Nigerians abroad, who wish to come home for the much anticipated election.
According to reports, this was disclosed by the Director of the Diaspora Directorate of the PCC and Chairman of the APC in the United Kingdom UK), Prince Ade Omole, while addressing reporters at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Monday.
Omole said the move was in the best interest of Nigeria’s democracy without prejudice to the voting choices of the returnees.
“We have reached an agreement with BA and Lufthansa to grant discounts to Nigerians coming back to vote.
“We didn’t go with a list to say only APC members should be given a discount but that everyone should benefit,” he said.
Omole expressed optimism that the APC standard bearer, Asiwaju bola Ahmed Tinubu, has promised to work with the National Assembly to ensure greater inclusion of Nigerians in the Diaspora in the country’s political process.
He said the directorate had gone around several countries, campaigning for Asiwaju Tinubu, adding that the number of Nigerians with the Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Cotonou, Benin Republic, and who were willing to vote for Asiwaju Tinubu was shocking.
“The global feedback is positive. We have over 1.6 million Diasporans. If I am to hazard a guess, I believe that close to a million will be coming to vote for Asiwaju Tinubu.
“I strongly believe that by 6 p.m on Saturday, February 25, we will be celebrating the election. Remember, we can view the result in real-time online. Yes, INEC may still take their time because they have to do the collation, officially. But I strongly believe that this election would be done and dusted by 6 p.m.”
