Arms, Military uniforms retrieved, as Police arrest 60 cult members

The Police Command in Benue state on Tuesday has confirmed the arrest of about 60 suspected cult members and recovered several exhibits, which includes arms and ammunition, military camouflage and bulletproof jackets.

According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Catherine Anene, in Markudi, said that the Police also recovered P-cap and red berets during the arrest.

“Sixty suspected cultists were arrested, four locally made guns, five axes, three black and two red berets, a pair of military camouflage trousers, P-cap bag, bulletproof jacket and other items were recovered from them”.

“On June 14, at about one o’clock, eight suspects who are suspected to be members of different cult groups were arrested at different locations in Makurdi metropolis”.

“Two Dane guns, packs of dried leaves suspected to be Marijuana, a pair of military Camouflage trousers, two berets and assorted charms were recovered from them”.

The PPRO went further to mention some of the suspects they had apprehended from June 15 to June 21, the suspects arrested were up to 51 in number.

Anene assured members of the general public that the command was committed and dedicated to the fighting armed robbery and cultism in the state.

She pleaded with parents and guardians to look after their wards in other to curtail cult cases in the state.
