ASUU STRIKE; Police warn hoodlums as NLC solidarity rally holds today

The Ogun state Police Command has assured the general public that their safety will be guaranteed before, during and after the said protest slated for Tuesday 26th of July 2022 by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), in solidarity with the strike action embarked upon by Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU)

According to a statement released on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state police command states:” In as much as protest is one of the inalienable rights of the citizens, the command wishes to appeal to NLC and other affiliated groups who might wanted to participate in the said protest to be civil and peaceful in order not to violate the rights of others.

Oyeyemi said “The command hereby appeals to the general public to go about their lawful businesses without fear of intimidation or harassment, as Police and other security agencies will be fully on ground to monitor the situation so as to prevent hoodlums from hijacking the process.”

Parents and guardians were also advised warn their children who may want to take advantage of the opportunity to cause trouble to reconsider or face the consequences.
