BREAKING: Bandits attack Kaduna-Abuja road after bombing train

Barely 24 hours after an Abuja-Kaduna bound train was bombed with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), suspected bandits again attacked the Tsafe-Yankara road and Kaduna-Abuja highway on Tuesday, leaving many Nigerians stranded for hours.

Daily Post reported that many drivers fled the road during the attack due to the sporadic gunshots being fired by the bandits.

It will be recalled that due to the national outrage that has greeted the Abuja train attack, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Farouq Yahaya, visited the scene on Tuesday, assuring that those kidnapped would be freed.

The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba was also at the location where the train was immobilized between Katari and Rijana.

Police spokesman Muyiwa Adejobi said the security chiefs got first-hand information necessary for rejigging of operational strategy for a robust action plan to prevent a recurrence.
