BREAKING; Governor closes spare parts market over non compliance with COVID-19 protocols

Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano has ordered the closure of Agbaedo Nnewi New Motor Spare Parts Market for a week.

This was made known in a press statement released on Saturday by the commissioner for trade and commerce, Mr Uchenna Okafor.

The release explained that Obiano ordered the closure of the market for one week, following the traders and customers disregard for the COVID-19 safety protocol laid down by the government.

The Governor also requested that during the period of closure, officials of the market should appear before the commissioner for health, Dr Vincent Okpala for retraining and recertification.


The statement read, “Following the non-compliance to the COVID-19 safety protocols by the Agbaedo new motor spare parts market, Nnewi, His Excellency the executive governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has ordered for the closure of the market.”

Meanwhile Anambra State has recently been posting high COVID-19 positive cases. As a result of this, the governor has imposed a nine hours curfew on the state, which will begin on Monday 6th February.
