BREAKING; Herdsmen Strike Again; Cousin of Governor Akeredolu’s aide strangled to death

Dayo Ibiye, a farmer in Ajowa Community of Akoko area of Ondo state and cousin to the Senior Special Assistant to Akeredolu on New Media, Gani Muhammed-Ajowa, has been allegedly killed by Fulani herdsmen.

Speaking to reporters, Muhammed said, “Three days ago, Dayo, who was my first cousin, went to his farm and met some Fulani herdsmen around the area, so he told them not to come towards his farm but to his surprise, they told him they would come to the farm and he would not do anything. This led to an alteration between him and the herdsmen. They warned him after that not to come to his farm again, that was three days ago.”
“But on Friday, they trailed him to his farm and attacked him. They macheted him but didn’t not penetrate. That was when they descended on him and twisted his neck to the back.

The death of Ibiye was coming barely 24 hours after a member of the Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, was also killed by bandits suspected to be herdsmen in Iju Community in Akure North Local Government Area of the state.

When contacted, the Police Spokesperson in the state, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro, who confirmed the incident stated that investigation had begun into the incident which happened a few weeks after the state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, ordered herdsmen to vacate the state’s forest reserves within seven days.
