BREAKING; NIN: NIMC closes offices, cites Coronavirus upsurge

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has shut down its office in the Alausa, Lagos State due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to reports, personnel of the agency, NIMC, asked people who came to enrol to go to their respective homes.

It however, did not disclose when it will re-open its doors and begin operation.

It could be recalled that the Federal Government on December 12, directed Nigerians to link their National Identity Numbers (NIN), to their mobile phones, otherwise risk their sim cards from being blocked.

The Federal Government previously had given Nigerians two weeks for the registration to be done, however, during plenary hearing, members of the Senate, asked that more time be give for the registration, reason being that there isn’t enough time for more than 200 million Nigerians to do the registration under such short notice.
