BREAKING: One person killed as Security operatives shoot students protesting increase in tutuon fees

It was a sad day for the management of Kaduna State College of Education, in Gidan Waya, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, on Friday, following the death of one of its student who was killed by security operatives during a protest.

According to reports, CRIMECHANNELS gathered that many students, including the deceased were protesting an over hike in school fees when the tragic incident occurred.

During the peaceful protest, some security operatives showed up, and in an attempt to disperse the aggrieved students shot into the crowd, it was gathered that the bullet hit one of the student, killing him instantly.

A Student who spoke with newsmen said that another student sustained gunshot injury to the leg, he however, said that the student has been taken to a Hospital.

On the issue of the increase in school fees, some students who voiced their frustration said that when the fees was at 25,000 – 30,000 naira, they found it difficult to pay, let alone now that they increased it to 75,000 naira.


Meanwhile, the National President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Sunday Asefon, confirmed the shooting incident.

He said that 2 students were shot dead during the protest while another sustained gunshot wound.
