Grace Ayanbimpe, a Professor of Medical Microbiology at the University of Jos, and her husband were abducted on Monday, May 17, by a group of armed men suspected to be bandits in Jos, Plateau State.
CRIMECHANNELS gathered that the gunmen stormed the residence of the couple located behind Haske Quarters, Lamingo in Jos North local government area of the state and whisked them away
A resident, Philip Dachung, who confirmed the development to the newsmen disclosed that the attackers stormed the residence of the Professor with loud gunshots and seriously terrified the neighbourhood.
He said, “The kidnappers came to their house around 2 am. They broke into their apartment and shot into the air. Neighbors who were terrified by sounds of gunshots could not come out for the fear of being hit by stray bullets.”
“So, this morning, we discovered that the gunmen had taken the professor and her husband away. We don’t where they are right now.”
Meanwhile, some staff of the Institution have appealed to security operatives to rescue the couples form captivity.
“Please, pray for their safe and quick release from their abductors. May we also see the end of insecurity in our country, ” they added.
Reacting to the development, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ubah Ogaba, said he hasn’t being briefed on the situation, he however, promised to get details of the incident.
