BREAKING: Two [2] INEC offices set ablaze by unknown armed hoodlums

Unknown hoodlums have attacked two offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC] in Ebonyi State, setting the properties on fire in the process.

The affected offices are located in Ebonyi and Ezza North Local Government Areas of the state.

It was gathered that no casualties were recorded but there were extensive damages to the building and facilities.

The Commission is yet to issue a full statement on the incident.

This latest attack brings the number of offices of the Commission that have been torched to 23.


INEC confirmed the development on its Twitter handle on Wednesday. It said: “Last night, Tuesday 18th May 2021, two INEC offices in Ebonyi and Ezza North Local Government Areas of Ebonyi State were burnt down by unidentified persons.

“No casualties but extensive damages to the building and facilities.”
