Unknown gunmen on Tuesday, have reportedly killed five persons, including a Monarch in Wereng community of Riyom local government area of Plateau state.
CRIMECHANNELS gathered that the gunmen stormed the village very early on Tuesday morning, October 6, and started terrorizing the village by shooting indiscriminately, leading to the killing of at least five persons.
According to sources, several others sustained injuries from the havoc.
It could be recalled that another traditional ruler in Barkin Ladi local government area of Plateau state, Bulus Janka, was also assassinated earlier by unknown gunmen.
The traditional ruler was reportedly killed on Monday night, September 21 at his residence in the Rasat, Foron district of Bark in Plateau.
Istifanus Gyang, a Senator representing Plateau state, described the killing as inhuman, barbaric, and devilish.
In his reaction, the Governor of Plateau state, Governor Simon Lalong, said security operatives have arrested the suspects behind the killings of the traditional ruler.
He confirmed the arrest of the suspects during a discussion with community stakeholders on Thursday, October 1.
