Buhari’s Minister distances self from murder attempt on Etiebet, calls for probe
The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswil Akpabio has distanced himself from allegations linking him to attempts at the life of a former Minister of Petroleum, Chief Don Etiebet.
According to Daily Independent, the Minister described the allegation as “preposterous and a figment of the imagination of purveyors and sponsors of falsehood and blackmail against him.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Jackson Udom, Senator Akpabio also carpeted the accusation as “malicious and baseless,” noting that the allegation is an attempt to malign his integrity and character by well-known politicians in the State.
The Minister tasked security agencies to investigate the allegation by a group; ABAK 5 MOVEMENT, insisting that they are “weighty.”
He further called on his detractors to leave him alone to carry out the mandate given to him by President Muhammadu Buhari.
