Businessman remanded in Prison Custody for allegedly chaining his Housewife

An Ilorin Magistrates Court has ordered that Usman Baba, a 40-year-old businessman, be remanded in prison for two weeks for allegedly using a chain to tie the legs of one Mrs Aishat Ibrahim.

According to the police First Information Report (FIR), the suspect committed the act with his wife while believing the victim possessed a witchcraft spirit.

It was gathered that Baba and his wife, who is still at large, demanded N100,000 from the victim’s parents as a ransom before releasing her.

The prosecutor, Zacchaeus Folorunsho, asked the court to remand the suspect and grant the exparte prayers.

Magistrate Ibrahim Dasuki, who presided over the case, granted the prosecutor’s demand and adjourned it until August 22, 2022.
