Commissioner arrested for rape, under investigation – Police

Spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force, DCP Frank Mba, has refuted claims that the Kogi State Commissioner for Water Resources, Abdumumini Danga, who was accused of assaulting and raping Elizabeth Oyeniyi, was allowed to go as a result of pressure allegedly mounted by Governor Yahaya Bello

It was learnt that Danga, commissioner for water resources for kogi state was arrested and interrogated at the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Abuja, on Tuesday, and was thereafter released on bail.

If you recall, the victim Elizabeth, who had posted on her Facebook wall urged the commissioner to assist his kid sister and other members of his family financially.

Elizabeth said she decided to make the Facebook post following series of complaints by the commissioner’s sister to her.

The post did not go down well with the commissioner, who hired thugs to seize Elizabeth from her home in Lokoja.

“On getting there, they flogged me. He flogged us himself, stripped me naked and made a video of me threatening to post it when next I make any public comment about it,” she said.

Narrating how the commissioner raped her, she said Danga held her captive and took her to a hotel at night where he forcefully had sex her.

Speaking on the claim that the commissioner was released because of pressure from the State Governor, Mba said, “it’s untrue and assured that the matter will be properly investigated.
