Parents of students in private schools in Ogun state on Sunday have kicked against the request to pay 25,000 naira for covid-19 test fee, as mandated by the Ogun state Government.

The angry parents took to the street to express their dissatisfaction over the fee which they consider very high and unnecessary.

The State government had said no boarding school pupil would be allowed to resume without a valid negative COVID-19 test certificate when school resumes.

Also, test centers have been established in designated places for students to get tested, the Government asked parents to take their wards to these centers between Friday – Monday.

Several parents went to one of the designated venue, the MTR 250 bed specialist hospital, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, and weren’t allowed because they didn’t have the 25,000 naira fee for the test.

Some of the parents who lamented about the insensitivity of the Government at this time of social-economic difficulty, adding that things weren’t going as smoothly as it were due to the current pandemic.
