Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, in an attempt to get the Police officers ready and ever prepared to combat insecurity in Lagos State has organized an arms and combat training for about 110 Divisional Police Officers (DPO), and Policemen.
In a statement issued and signed on May 18, by the Police Public Relation Officer of Lagos, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the training which kicked off in April, 2021 will last for a period of one month.
The statement says that the training will give Police officers the necessary needed information on how to handle weapons, control a crowd in the case of a protect, one on one combat, Musketey, Baton and Rifle Exercise (BARE), individual manoeuvres and range practice.
The Lagos PPRO said that the Commissioner promised to regularly embark on training and retraining of Police officers and men of the Lagos State Police Command, adding that it is for the betterment of the state in terms of staying abreast in the fight of crime.
He further said that, “the Commissioner revealed that a similar training is being carried out simultaneously for the rank and file cadre of the command, in batches, in order to be in tune with the re-designed Standard Operating Procedure of the Nigeria Police Force.”
“While admonishing the officers and men in the command to embrace this initiative and be committed to the new policing agenda of the Inspector-General of Police so as to maintain good service delivery in the state, CP Hakeem Odumosu promised to pull all available resources together for the betterment of officers and men and the entire workforce of the command in Lagos State, ” the statement reads.
