Drama as Gov Seyi Makinde exits PDP WhatsApp group in anger; may decamp from party

The crisis rocking the Oyo state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) took another dimension on Saturday night as the Governor of the Oyo state, Seyi Makinde, exited the official WhatsApp platform of the party in the state.

CRIMECHANNELS learnt that the Governor left the group around 10 pm on Saturday after the Publicity Secretary of the party, Akeem Olatunji, posted a viral video of an attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen on the people of Ayete, headquarters of Ibarapa North Local Government Area of the state.

According to a reliable source, Olatunji, who posted the video, still commented on it. His comment reads, “This video has gone viral but the authority needs to confirm the claim. It’s very urgent to address the message.”

It was learnt that the video and comment angered the Governor, who responded by saying, “Every time some idiots makes a video, the government must respond. I don’t get it really, you need mature people to make meaningful contributions on your platform.”

Seyi Makinde further reacted to another story regarding allegations of violence at the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) membership revalidation/registration.

It was gathered that Olatunji commented, “that several persons were injured as APC members fight over registration in Oyo State.”

Reacting to the comment, Governor Makinde asked, “of what relevance is this on the PDP official platform?”. He then exited the group.

After his exit, several members of the parties said they were disappointed by the Governor’s behaviour.

Hon Samuel Okunlade, Chairmen of Orelope Local Government Area, Igboho, reacting to the exit said, “I am highly disappointed sir, we don’t expect this from you. Leaders who are low on accommodating may have trouble building up goodwill with other people.”

However, Kunle Yusuf, Special Adviser to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals reacted directly, as he tackled Okunlade, saying, “Please let us stay clear from the issue, we should be careful with the information we share on this loop.”

Meanwhile, Seyi Makinde is eumoured to be considering leaving the PDP for another party, to pursue his second term ambition considering the crisis rocking the Oyo state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
