Driver spots suspected armed men who robbed passengers on the highway, inside bank

Police operatives attached to Osun State Police Command have arrested 2 suspected armed robbers who robbed some persons of their valuables.

CRIMECHANNELS gathered that the Police Public Relations Officer of Osun State Police Command, SP Opalola Olawoyin Yemisi made the disclosure in a statement on Friday, May 21.

According to the statement, the armed robbers, Abiodun Abdulahi, a resident of Ado Ekiti and Godwin John, a teenager who hails from Imo State were nabbed on Friday, May 21, at about 12pm at Ife in Osun State.

Speaking further, SP Olawonyi said that the 2 men alongside other members of their armed robbery gang robbed some passengers of a bus coming from Lagos. She said that the bus was heading towards Ilesa via Ife/Osu express road when the robbery occurred.

“The robbery took place around 9:45pm on Thursday. The gang forcefully carted away with various properties such as money, phones and ATM cards, and fled the scene, ” she added.


It was learnt that the Driver of the bus that got robbed had gone to a commercial bank on Friday, in an attempt to block his ATM card so that the robbers wouldn’t get access to his money.

She said, “On getting to Ife, the Driver suddenly saw and identified 2 of the armed robbers who robbed him and his passengers the previous day.”

“He immediately called the Police and told them what happened. The Police upon hearing the details, quickly mobilised themselves to the bank where the armed robbers were and apprehended them.”

She said that during interrogation, the armed robbers confessed to the crime. She also said that the Osun State Police Command is currently trailing other members of the gang.
