Eleven [11] persons dead, houses burnt as suspected armed men attack community

11 people have been reportedly dead and several houses burned in a recent attack by terrorist at Ancha community in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State

The President, Irigwe Development Association, Prince Robert Ashi who confirmed the incident to journalist said: “I was informed of the attack in the early hours of Wednesday that killer herdsmen invaded Ancha community and killed eleven people and burnt down many houses in the attack which lasted for more than two hours.”

He also explained that the attack caught the villagers unaware.

The Media Officer of Operation Safe Haven Major Ishaku Takwa (OPSH) also confirmed the incident.


In a statement released by the officer, the statement explained that immediately they got a distressed call from the community, the troops responded swiftly and mobilised to the village adding that on reaching the community, the attackers had fled. He also said the group is on the trail of the assailants.

“Troops of Operation Safe Haven are on the trail of the assailants and details of the pursuits would be made available later.”he said.

The Commander Operation Safe Haven, Major Gen. IS Ali, while commiserating with the families of those who lost their lives during the attack has reiterated his resolve to ensure perpetrators of evil on the Plateau face the consequences of their dastard acts.
