Youths in Osun state on Wednesday defied a 24 hours curfew imposed by the Governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola.
CRIMECHANNELS earlier reported that the Governor had on Tuesday night announced the curfew, however, protesters defied the order by coming out enmass at major areas such as Okini, Agunbelewo and Osogbo.
It was learnt that several protesters converged at the popular Ola-Iya junction, in Osogbo, and barricaded the highway. According to reports, some Police men at the scene were chased by the agitated protesters.
The youth also barricaded the Ifon/Ogbomosho road, where they made bonfires on the street and chanted revolution songs.
It was also learnt that a soldier addressed the protesters in front of the APC secretariat, Ogo-Oluwa, Ola-Iya, and other places that youths gathered, he called for peace and calm in the area.
In his words, he said, “the future is ours, we the youths are the leaders of tomorrow, it is good that we protest but we must not allow thugs to infiltrate our agitation by destroying properties and others.”
