No fewer than 5 Internal displaced persons (IDP) have been killed by Boko Haram terrorist in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno state.
According to a member of the local vigilance group in the area, Abu Damboa, the 5 persons whose identities are still yet to be known ventured into the woods to get firewoods on Sunday when the tragic incident happened.
He said that when it was evening, and they had not returned, they knew something was wrong. He said him and other of his colleagues went in search of the missing persons, that was when they discovered the gruesome scene.
Abu said, “We got the report that some IDPs were missing. So, we swung into action but later found 5 of them beheaded 2 kilometers away from the scene where they were falling trees.”
“It was disheartening to see fellow human beings slaughtered like animals, they were all displaced persons.”
Meanwhile, a humanitarian source revealed that the incident happened on Sunday afternoon, adding that the victims have been buried according to Islamic rites.
The humanitarian however said, the information he previously had, was that 8 persons were abducted when they went to fetch firewood outside Damboa town.
“5 dead bodies out of the 8 missing IDPs were recovered this morning, ” he added.
