Five bullets holes found in officer’s head as unknown gunmen kill another Policeman

The attack on Police operatives by unknown gunmen in Imo State seems like it is not going to end anytime soon. In a recent attack, a Police officer of the Imo State Police Command was shot dead by yet to be identified gunmen.

The deceased cop, Loveday Obilonu, according to report was killed on Wednesday, May 19, at Okwu-Uratta road, Owerri in Imo State.

CRIMECHANNELS learnt that Obilonu, before his untimely death, was attached to the Department of Operations of the state police command headquarters, in Owerri.

The dead officer’s cousin, Mr Val Okara, told newsmen that his corpse was found inside a gutter. He said there were some bullets inside the gutter.

He however said the corpse has been evacuated and deposited in a mortuary.

He also told newsmen that the death of his cousin was very suspicious, saying that no fewer than 5 bullet holes were seen in his head.

He said, “I suspect that my younger cousin was assassinated because no less than 5 bullets were released on his head alone.”

“He was shot dead inside the gutter, raising suspicion that it might be an assassination. The Police should do a thorough investigation.”

He further said that, “He was my very beloved cousin. He was married with 4 children and I am pained about his death because he left a very young family. I do not know what his wife and children will do now. This is indeed very regrettable, “Okara said.

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer in Imo State, Orlando Ikeokwu, when contacted by Journalists, said he has not been briefed on the incident, he however, promised to get details from other Police formations in the area where the corpse of the slain cop was found.
