Five people killed, eight others kidnapped in gunmen’s night attack
No fewer than five persons were killed and about eight others kidnapped on Tuesday night when bandits invaded Kpampo village, near Gulu town in Lapai Local Government Area of Niger state.
This was revealed by a relative of one of the abducted victims,
Shuaibu Usman, who resides in Gulu.
According to the Daily Trust, Usman said that the bandits struck the village in large numbers with sophisticated weapons and rode on motorcycles as they entered the community last night.
He said the five people that were killed were those who attempted to run away from their homes upon seeing the bandits shooting sporadically.
Usman added that four persons also sustained gunshot injuries and were receiving treatment at a private hospital in Gulu town.
According to him, some villagers who managed to escape the attack are taking refuge in Gulu town.
“As I am talking to you, four people that sustained gunshot injuries are receiving treatment here in Gulu town, ” he said.
He said the bandits also burgled some shops including pharmacies and carted away foodstuffs, drugs and wine.
As of press time, there was no official statement yet from the state police command on the incident.
