Five people killed, houses set on fire as gunmen on motorcycles run over communities

Reports from the Sokoto State Police Command has it that five persons have been killed by armed bandits in a village in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Adamawa state.

The report was confirmed by the command Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Abubakar Sadiq, who says about one hundred suspected armed bandits on motorcycles trooped into the village, and raided houses, thereby killing five individuals in the process.

Aside the killings, the bandits were said to have burnt down six shops and eleven other houses whilst five more people sustained gunshot wounds.

The report says that the bandits also raided a nearby village called Samaye and carted away uncertain number of livestock and also took with them, valuables belonging to the villagers.


ASP Sadiq revealed to newsmen that the attack which lasted for about two hours, was carried out at twelve midnight on Sunday January 31st through till Monday morning.

According to him, the police were at the crime scene as soon as the information got to them, but no arrest was made. He however ensure that investigation will continue.
