Foreigner arrested by Police operatives for selling 4, 500 riffles to bandits

Five suspected bandits including a Nigerien were paraded by the Zamfara State Police Command, on Friday,
at the Police Headquarters in Gusau, the state capital.

CRIMECHANNELS gathered that the suspects were apprehended for their involvement in banditry, selling of arms and ammunition, kidnapping, cattle rustling and other criminal vices.

Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer in Zamfara state, Shehu Mohammed, explained that the arrest of the suspects was a result of the collaboration between the police and the state leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN).

He said that one of the suspects, a Nigerien citizen by the name Shehu Ali Kachalla, confessed to have sold no fewer than 4,500 rifles to different criminal gangs across the North-West region.

He said that the other suspect, identified as Abubakar Ali, a native of Niger state confessed to have been terrorizing both Kagarko and Chikun Local Government Areas of Kaduna State.

Zamfara PPRO, Shehu Mohammed also said that the suspect confessed that he has killed 5 persons during the course of operation in Kaduna.

“The Police recovered 4 AK-49 riffles, 9 magazines, 960 live ammunition, and assorted charms from the suspects, ” he added.

Shehu assured the citizens of the state that the Police is doing everything in its power to make sure that their lives and properties are safe and secured.
