Four [4] Police officers arrested, detained on CP’s directive

The Rivers State Police Command has arrested some suspected policemen who pretended to work for senior officers in order to aid suspected land grabbers who harass, intimidate, and extort property owners in Rumuahorlu Community in the state’s Obio-Akpor Local Government Area.

On the orders of the Commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka, officers from the command’s various tactical units stormed Cedar Wood Estate on Wednesday and raided a building suspected of housing police personnel involved in the illegal operation.

Four police officers and their civilian driver were arrested, and their patrol van, which lacked a license plate, was impounded.

However, some police officers and civilians managed to flee.

Some estate landlords stated that their decision to petition the Inspector-General of Police and the CP was motivated by the security personnel’s constant “invasion” of their properties, as well as “harassment, intimidation, and extortion.”

They also accused the officer of “forcefully grabbing” their land and reselling it.
