Gov suspends Traditional Ruler, queries LG Chairman over killing of Policemen, others

HRH Alhaji Musa Isah Achuja, Ohi of Eganyi and Chairman of the Ajaokuta Traditional Area Council, has been suspended with immediate effect by Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello.

The governor also directed that the Chairman of Ajaokuta Local Government Area, Hon Mustapha Aka’aba, be questioned about the breach and respond within 24 hours in a letter to the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Kogi State.

The governor’s directive against the affected individuals is in response to a recent security breach in the area, which resulted in the untimely deaths of some Policemen and other security personnel performing their duties of maintaining law and order.

The governor issued a strong warning to other traditional rulers across the state who may have connections in some way with criminal elements in their domains to stop immediately, stating that his administration will deal ruthlessly with anyone who romances with criminal elements, regardless of their position.

In the same vein, Governor Bello has directed that all unofficial movements of local government council chairmen outside of their territory, as well as any other journeys made without due process, be prohibited.

The governor warned that no amount of collusion with criminals would deter him from his primary responsibility of protecting the lives and property of the state’s citizens and residents.
