The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has been elected as chairman of the South West Governors’ forum.

Sanwo-Olu was elected in a closed door meeting on Monday, June 10 with all six governors of the southwest governors present.

Also in the meeting, the song “Iṣẹ̀ wà fùń Ilẹ wá”, was unanimously adopted as official anthem for the Southwest (Yoruba).

Sanwo-Olu’s election as chairman of the forum is coming six months after the death of the former chairman who doubles as the former governor of Ondo state, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who died on December 27, 2023.

However, the forum chairman has immediately ordered commissioners of agriculture to establish a working template for fighting food insecurity in the region.
