Guber Elections: As the Chief Security officer, I can arrest anybody – Gov boasts

As part of efforts to ensure his second term bid is achieved, Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, has vowed to deal with anyone that intimidates his supporters on Saturday, when the gubernatorial and state assembly election will be held across the country.

Speaking on Sunday at his country home in Iperu-Remo, Ikenne Local Government Area of the state, the governor warned against any form of voters’ intimidation and harassment on the election day, asking members of his ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) not to bow to any pressure towards that effect.

The governor claimed that being the chief security officer of the state, he could order the arrest of anybody found flouting his directive.

The governor said even though he is much aware that his opponents have imported political thugs into Iperu-Remo township ahead of Saturday’s election, he remains confident of winning the state again.

“Don’t allow anybody to intimidate you on election day. I am sure you know that I am the governor, I am the governor of this state. I am the chief security officer of this state and I can (order) arrest (of) anybody.

“They (opponents) can go about grandstanding, but it’s of no effect. I’m a gentleman. But like they say, the gentility of a tiger is not a symbol of timidity,” the governor told his supporters.

“I learnt some people have started importing thugs into Iperu, If I lay my hands on them, I deal with them and their thugs decisively,” the governor added.
