Gunmen throw off some victims from bridge top

Gunmen in Anambra State are said to have thrown some of their victims from the top of a bridge to the cement base of a drainage channel.

The incident occurred over the weekend in the state’s Alor, Idemili South Local Government Area.

The victims were said to have been kidnapped along the Nnobi—Nnewi Road and taken to Alor before being thrown from a bridge on the Obiaja River.

A video from the scene, which is currently trending on social media, shows one of the abductees lamenting and narrating his ordeal while being interviewed by some Tiger Squad local vigilante, Alor.

According to the victim, who identified himself as Benjamin Okafor (a.k.a. Man Petrol), he was cruising in his Toyota Camry car to his hometown, Amichi, in Nnewi South Local Government Area, with one other person when he was abducted at around 9 p.m., only to be thrown out from a 20-foot-high bridge top after a short time.

The video also shows the second victim dead in a drainage system, where a flood had pinned him against some massive pebbles in the channel.

The surviving victim, who lay lifeless on the ground, had various degrees of injuries all over his body.

When contacted, the Anambra State Police Command Spokesperson, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed the incident and revealed that the victim had been rescued and the body of the deceased deposited in a mortuary.

“The man was rescued and he is currently receiving treatment in the hospital. He was later identified and united with the family members. Meanwhile the second victim has been taken to the morgue and investigation has since commenced please,” he said.
