Gunmen who kidnapped Chief Superintendent of Customs demand N100 million ransom

Unknown gunmen who abducted a serving Superintendent of the Nigerian Customs (NCS) Mba Ukweni Edu, in Rivers State have demanded the sum of 100 million naira for the safe release of their victim.

According to reports, CRIMECHANNELS gathered that the Customs Officer was kidnapped while he was aboard a vessel conveying some goods. It was learnt that the gunmen led him into their speed boat and zoomed off.

Meanwhile, an eye witness and resident of the area who spoke on the condition of anonymity said that Edu was abducted mid-sea close to Ugbem.

He said, “The suspected kidnappers drove their speedboat close to the ponting, shot sporadically, hijacked the victim and pushed him into their speedboat and sped off.”

“He is a Chief Superintendent of Customs. The ferry point is between Etono-Central and Ugbem in Biase LGA. He was kidnapped while they were on the water, close to Ugbem”.

He further stated that the kidnappers have made contact the victim’s family. He said the men were asking for the sum of 100 million naira before he would be freed.

He appealed to security operatives in the state to come to their aid, and help rescue the victim, adding that since his abduction, the community he is from have been in severe pains.
