Guns, cutlases retrived as Police arrest seven [7] suspects over bloody attack on Policemen, others

Reports on Saturday says seven suspects have been arrested by the police in connection with the attack on Police officers and the Oyo State Security Network Agency also known as Amotekun.

Recovered from the hoodlums are a locally made gun and cutlasses as disclosed by the Police Spokesman, Olugbenga Fadeyi in a statement while confirming investigation on the attack.

The statement read, “Amotekun and Police personnel were responding to distress calls when the attacks on the two security agencies happened. A Police personnel was injured and taken to the UCH for immediate medical attention.

“Seven suspects were arrested while a locally made gun, cutlasses were recovered from the hoodlums. Investigation has commenced.

It was recalled that four personnel of Oyo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun, are currently battling for their lives at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), of University College Hospital (UCH) after they were attacked by hoodlums on Friday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The attack carried out on the police and personnel happened in Odeyale area of Ona Ara Local Government. They were said to have been attacked with cutlasses and several other harmful weapons.

Reporting the incident, the Amotekun Commandant in the state, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (rtd), in a statement said the personnel moved to the area following a distress call by Odeyale Community Landlord Association to help dislodge hoodlums perpetrating violence in the community.

He said the personnel were attacked with machetes and axes, adding that four of them with severe injuries were currently receiving treatment at the ICU of the UCH.

Olayinka maintained that investigation by the corps on the incident has commenced.
