Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has launched a film production empowerment scheme in an attempt to boost creativity and revenue in Lagos State.
CRIMECHANNELS gathered that a capital seed of 1 billion was injected into the creative sector (film and tourism), by the Lagos State Governor.
It was learnt that Sanwo Olu inaugurated a 9 man Committee on Film Production Empowerment. The committee comprises of Actors, Film makers and Media Personalities.
They are; Richard Mofe Damijo, Mo Abudu, Peace Anyiam Osigwe, Tunde Kelani, Kunle Afolayan and 4 others.
The Governor mandated the newly formed committee to identify and fund film projects eligible for the newly formed scheme.
Also, it was learnt that filmmakers who apply for funding may get grants as much as N40 million per beneficiary.
Sanwo-Olu said the committee had been given the authority to disburse the support grants to movie producers who have fresh ideas and those whose stories are yet to be completed due to lack of fund.
Meanwhile, Popular Actor, Richard Mofe Damijo, RMD thanked the Governor for the wonderful opportunity to serve under his leadership.
He said, “We don’t have any excuse not to perform in this assignment. We will do everything in our capacity to ensure that result which the Governor has envisioned comes to reality.”
