I have a hand in removal of Secondus as PDP National Chairman – Governor opens up

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has revealed it’s involvement in the conspiracy which led to the removal of Prince Uche Secondus, the former National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party.

Recall that stakeholders of the party had seeked for the removal of secondus as the party chairman due to an internal crisis which rocked the opposition party.

It was reported that a High Court in Rivers on August 24 gave an interim order, restricting Secondus from depicting himself as the National Chairman of the party.

The move which resulted to the recently concluded National Convention of the Party yielded the emergence of Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, former Senate President, as the new National Chairman of PDP.
Governor Wike In an interview with BBC pidgin, noted that his involvement in the removal of Secondus was as a result of his inability to deal with the crisis that wrecked the party.

According to him, “I have never denied of being involved in the removal of Secondus, he was not doing well so his ward first suspended him and I am delighted they did that.

“I am not the type of governors that deny their actions. I know I have hand in his removal and I’m not afraid to say it.

“I did that because if we allow him to continue as PDP chairman, the party will be destroyed”.
