Insecurity; Governors rejecting efforts to end herdsmen-farmers crises – Presidency

The Governors in the People’s Democratic Party Governors’ Forum have refused to support the Federal Government’s initiative to find a lasting solution to the crisis between herders and farmers says the Presidency.

CRIMECHANNELS gathered that Garba Shehu, Special Adviser to the President on media and Publicity made the disclosure on Wednesday.

It was learnt the Shehu was reacting to an earlier communique issued on Monday by the PDP Governors after their meeting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom.

Shehu said, “This initiative brings rights and support for generations of all ages to bring solutions to challenges that different communities of our country have faced, but the PDP governors reject it.”

He said, “PDP Governors instead of supporting the Federal Government in looking for ways to end the herders farmer crisis in order to save many lives, have denied all Nigerians their constitutional right to live and work in any state of the federation.

He further said, “Similarly, the Governors appeal to each other for more involvement of States in mining and geophysical activities within their States.”

”The question must be asked, Why has this taken you so long? Such opportunities and States’ powers have been fully available since independence yet only now the PDP realises it?”.

He also condemned their stance on the issue of the Twitter ban. He claimed that the PDP Governors have been using Twitter to spread fake news and propaganda.
