The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Maj Gen Ibrahim Attahiru has just arrived Maiduguri on Saturday, hours after Boko Haram terrorist attacked 2 towns in Borno.
It could be recalled that CRIMECHANNELS earlier reported that Boko Haram invaded the town of Dikwa and Marte on Friday evening, shooting indiscriminately in the air, while residents fled their homes to other neighboring villages for safety. However, the Military engaged them in a fierce gun battle.
It was gathered that Gen. Attahiru is scheduled to hold briefing with the Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole and other unit commanders of the counter-insurgency offensive in Borno state.
Meanwhile, sources have said that the insurgents pushed back military forces and took over Marte.
The source revealed that the insurgents came in about 20 gun trucks and attacked Dikwa, some 67 kilometres to Maiduguri. He said that Nigeria troops fought the terrorist for an hour before getting air support from the Air Force.
He said that many of the insurgents were neutralized in the air offensive.
