JUST IN; Driver reportedly shot dead, as gunmen abduct thirteen [13] passengers

A Driver named Adamu Usman has been reportedly shot dead by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Tuesday, May 18.

According to reports, it was learnt that the kidnappers also abducted about 13 passengers along Shafa-Abakpa -Umaisha road in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

It was learnt that the incident occurred around 5pm on that faithful Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a Driver who escaped the attack recounted what he witnessed. He said that the men were armed with sophisticated weapons and that they were up to 13. He said that they attacked 4 vehicles coming from Ugya village.

He said the vehicles were conveying passengers from Ugya to Abaji and Toto town when they were attacked.


The eyewitness named Saidu further said that, “the kidnappers surrounded the vehicles after the driver lost control and whisked away 13 passengers, including a middle-aged woman, into the bush.’

“In fact, I was driving behind the four vehicles in front of me, but it was God that saved when I stopped at one of the village to pick a passenger. As I was coming, I heard gunshot and immediately made a U-turn.”

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of Nasarawa State Police Command, ASP Ramhan Nansel, said he had not been briefed about the latest kidnap incident, he however promised to get details from other Police formations in the affected area.
