A man identified as Abubakar Mohammed has been apprehended by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) command in Borno State.
According to reports, CRIMECHANNELS learnt that the man was arrested for allegedly impersonating as an Army captain.
This was disclosed by Borno state NSCDC Commandant, Mr Abdullahi Ibrahim in Tuesday in Maiduguri.
Also, Abdullahi said that 13 other criminal elements were arrested for various criminal activities in the state.
Addressing newsmen, he said, “The fake army captain was arrested in Army uniform by a patrol team on Damboa Road, Maiduguri. He was impersonating an army captain.”
“He was arrested along with one Garba Audu who equally claimed to be a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) attached to Sector 5.”
“We also arrested one Ibrahim Mohammed, a bus driver trying to transport a large quantity of petrol to an unknown destination.”
“We also arrested one Fantami Bukar, the owner of Fantami sachet water company, for using the brand name of another company.”
The commandant decried the increasing rate at which criminals make use of military and other security agencies uniforms to commit crimes within Maiduguri and its environs.
He cautioned residents in the area to always be on alert, adding that the 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew in Maiduguri and its environs was still in place.
