JUST IN; Governor runs into long traffic, orders removal all roadblocks

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has ordered the immediate closure of all roadblocks serving as joints for illegal tax collectors across the state.

The Governor noted that the activities being carried out by illegal tax officials at the roadblocks have caused so much pain and agony for users of the major roads across the state.

The Governor gave the order while on a trip to Okene in Kogi State on Thursday when his convoy ran into a long traffic gridlock on the road.

He said: “The activities of the illegal tax collectors on the road are a serious source of frustration to taxi drivers and drivers of articulated vehicles because of the high illegal charges”.

The governor, who stated that only tax collectors that have been legally constituted by the state government with relevant statutes would be allowed to carry out the responsibilities, warned that his government would no longer tolerate any illicit operations of tax collectors in the state.

Meanwhile, some of the transporters, who witnessed the action of the governor in the traffic, commended his move just as they lamented that they had been in the sun for hours before his arrival.
