JUST IN: Heavy Security presence at Lekki tollgate for third anniversary of #EndSARS memorial
There is heavy presence of police officers at the Lekki tollgate in Lagos for the third anniversary of the #EndSARS protest.
According to The Cable, “The memorial walk was organised to commemorate the tollgate shooting during the nationwide #EndSARS protests of 2020.
On October 20, 2020, security operatives reportedly fired live rounds into a crowd of unarmed young persons who had converged on the tollgate to protest decades of police brutality. The death toll from the incident remains inconclusive and varied, three years later.
At the moment, a plethora of police officers attached to the Lagos police command are at the Lekki tollgate to forestall a breakdown of law and order.
