A notorious and fierce kidnap kingpin, responsible for many abduction in Imo State has finally been apprehended by operatives of the Imo State Command’s Quick Intervention Team (QIT).
The suspect, Eze Obinna of Amaimo, Ikeduru Local Government Area of the state according to reports was nabbed on Monday, May 17.
CRIMECHANNELS gathered that the Police Public Relations Officer of Imo State Police Command, SP Orlando Ikeokwu disclosed this in a statement.
He said, “the operatives acted on the directives of the Commissioner of Police Yaro Abutu to arrest the suspect who he said had formed another deadly gang since he escaped from the prison.”
He said that the suspect was once arrested in December 2020, by operatives of the Anti-kidnapping unit of the Imo State Police Command for kidnapping a woman.
He further said, “the suspect personally transferred the sum of N5,000,000 from the victim’s bank account to his own account, and later collected the sum of N4,000,000 cash, as ransom from the same victim.”
He added that a Toyota Venza belonging to the victim which was stolen by Eze is still yet to be recovered.
He further said that the suspect was charged to court and remanded in prison custody. However, he was set free during the attack on the Correctional services on April, 2021 by armed hoodlums.
Orlando said that the Commissioner of Police has ordered the arrest of all his gang members.
