JUST IN; Okonjo Iweala explains why she didn’t post Tinubu’s pictures at Paris summit
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) has reacted to the criticisms she received from Nigerians over the photographs she posted from the Economic summit held in Paris, France.
The WTO DG had posted several pictures she took with many world leaders taken at the France economic summit, but she excluded the picture she took with President Bola Tinubu at Global Financing Pact’ summit convened by the French President, Emmanuel Macron.
But many Nigerians on social media felt embarrassed by Okonjo Iweala’s action, saying it was unpatriotic for her to have posted pictures taken with President of other countries and excluded the one she took with the president of her county.
But reacting to the controversy generated Okonjo-Oweala later posted she picture she took with President Tinubu and urged Nigerians to relax.
Tweeting, the former Finance minister said the controversy has exposed how polarised Nigeria has become.
She said: “Nigerians, please relax! Re Paris, Interesting attacks from both sides. This sadly shows the depth of polarization in our society.
“I post photos in the order received by accompanying staff or colleagues. Reading more into it is unwarranted. Let’s unite to build our country, not attack.”
